Commuter Awareness: Student Perks & Discounts!

Hello Commuters!
Commuting to school can be quite costly. This reality may make handling finances difficult and you shouldn't have to decide between life's essentials. This blog details resources that may help out with costs in your daily lives. The University of Toronto's Student's Union (UTSU) is a great place to start to look for resources and the majority of the information in this blog is taken from there.
Transportation Resources:
The TTC offers students a discount with the TTC Post-Secondary Monthly Pass. Instead of paying the $156/month adult fee, students can get a monthly pass for $128.15.
Students can get their TTC Post-Secondary Photo ID Card from the Bathurst Subway Station, and must have:
A piece of photo ID and their T-Card
Proof of full-time enrolment at U of T (available on ACORN)
2. Entertainment Resources:
Criterion On Demand is an online digital platform that offers free movies. Students have access to this platform by using their UofT login. https://www.criterionondemand.com/about-criterion-on-demand
The UTSU front desk offers cineplex movie redemption passes. Admit-one tickets can be purchased for $10.25 instead of the retail price of $12.99 and the great escape tickets which includes two general admission, two soft drinks, and one regular sized popcorn can be purchased for $32.00 instead of $43.69
The Art Gallery of Toronto offers a free, unlimited, and full year access to their collections and exhibitions to students ages 14-25. 35$ for ages 26+
The UTSU front desk offers discounted Ripley's Aquarium at $32.00 instead of the retail value of $44.00
3. Education Resources:
The University offers the Discount Promo Code “TORUTSU$400” for $400 off all Princeton Review Instructor-Lead Programs
4. Health Resources:
Rexall offers students 20% off on Rexall exclusive brands. Sign up using this link.
5. Food Resources:
Students can get 10% off their groceries on purchases over $50 at Maisie’s Independent City Market (in the Manulife Centre at Bay and Bloor). Discount is only available on Tuesdays and students must present their student ID. For more information, contact 416-923-8831.
Students get 15% off of any drinks at YGO Juice & Tea Lab. This discount cannot be combined with other promotions and students must bring valid student ID.
6. Phone plans:
The UofT bookstore offers phones and phone plans. See the link for more information https://www.uoftbookstore.com/mobility
7. Clothing/Apparel resources
Student Price Cards (SPC) offers students discounts on fashion, shoes, and much more. See the link for information and to register
